Koch El Tepeztate Mezcal

Koch El Tepeztate Mezcal is a sophisticated expression distilled from 100% wild Tepeztate agave (Agave Marmorata), a rare varietal that takes 15 to 25 years to mature on steep, rocky slopes in Oaxaca. This long maturation contributes to its complex and distinct profile. Crafted by Maestro Mezcalero Pedro Hernandez in San Baltazar Guelavila, the agave hearts are roasted in a traditional earthen oven and milled using a tahona wheel, followed by double distillation in a copper pot still. This process yields a complex, fresh, and slightly sweet Joven mezcal. The aroma features subtle notes of fresh herbs, wood, resin, and pine. On the palate, expect vibrant flavors of jalapeño, wet stones, and herbaceous complexity, culminating in a light, floral finish with great persistence.
